Celebrating Novel Ingredients

This award celebrates new ingredients that make a positive sustainability contribution to food and beverage products. The sustainable ingredient makes a difference in some of the following areas:

  • Reduced Environmental Impact: Lower environmental footprint which can be via production method, processing, etc.
  • Sustainable Sourcing: Responsible sourcing practices that prioritise environmental and social sustainability.
  • Positive Social Impact: this can be through ethical partnerships, social premium, or community empowerment initiatives.

The finalists were Alland & Robert Beyond Acacia,  Nongshim Flavolink and Second Squeeze Fruit Syrups.

Eligibility:

  • Ingredient launched within the last three years
  • Current applications in food and beverage products
  • Evidence of sustainability claims

 

Judging Criteria:

  • Innovation: Some innovation involved
  • Application: The ability to improve the sustainability profile of food and beverage products.
  • Market Relevance: The ingredient meets the needs of customers & the market
  • Impact: Makes a significant difference in terms of environmental, social, and / or ethical impact
  • Verifiable: Evidence of sustainability merits
