Recognising Green Packaging

This award recognises new packaging formats that have a lower environmental impact. The packaging makes a difference in some of the following areas:

  • Material: The use of green(er) materials that have a lower environmental footprint
  • Design: The design approach considers life cycle analysis
  • Functionality: Maintains or improves functionality of packaging

 

Gold Winner: Notpla (UK)

Silver Winner: Sykell (Germany)

The finalists were Accredo Packaging (USA), Burts Snacks (UK), Croxsons (UK), and Hope & Glory Tea (UK).

 

Eligibility:

  • Packaging introduced within the last three years
  • Current applications in food and beverage industry
  • Evidence of sustainability claims

 

Judging Criteria:

  • Environmental Impact: Makes a measurable difference in terms of environmental impact
  • Innovation: Some innovation involved
  • Application: The potential to have wide / large applications in food & beverage industry
  • Verifiable: Evidence of sustainability claims
